Kre-O Optimus Prime Minifigure

Thanks to BubbaShelby who tipped me off about them selling single boxed Kre-O Optimus Prime Minifigures or "Kreons" at K-Mart(Big K) department stores i was able to hunt one down with ease for around $5 to add to my collection.

While these were released by Hasbro the company actually makes these is Oxford who is one of my favorite 3rd party building block makers from who i have a couple "mini-sets" i picked up at our local Hobby Lobby store last year that featured minifigures with military,law enforcement and construction themes.

Lego Minifigure Minotaur

I scored the Lego minifigure Minotaur from the series 6 wave of blind bags at our local Toys R' Us today who seems to be the only place in my area at the moment that has these and man what fun am i going to have with this one!

Lego Monster Fighters

In my last post i talk about my excitement when i found out that Lego was doing Universal Monsters Minifigures but thanks to Dex1138 and a little online snooping i did i must correct myself and say these are not Universal Monsters but something extremely close called.....Monster Fighters.

These will be actual building sets with minifigures with a classic monster theme and will be released this summer from Lego and am still excited about these and will be one of the few things from Lego that i actually want the building sets and not just the minifigures.

Here is a list of what is supposed to be released....

Lego Universal Monsters

Couple of my fellow toy bloggers(BubbaShelby and Iok)have reported that Lego has announced that they will be doing official Universal Monsters minifigures and this really has me excited!

Now i don't know if they will be producing actually Lego building sets but here is hoping because i want to see things like Doctor Frankenstein's Lab and Dracula's Castle. Now i don't normal buy building sets(I just like collecting the minifigures)but in this case i would have no problem doing so.

Also am wondering will we be seeing a Creature From The Black Lagoon(Gillman) or a Invisible Man? or any others? or will we be limited to the classic line-up(Dracula,Wolfman,Mummy and Frankenstein's Monster)?my mind is just racing at the moment with the thoughts of what we might be getting.

Now Lego did produce 4 "unofficial" Monsters which were available via there series of Blind Bags which am very lucky to have.....

Masters Of The Universe Classics Chief Carnivus

Another awesome MOTU Classics figure from BubbaShelby from over at Toyriffic and this one is my favorite that he sent due to it's details and colors.....Chief Carnivus.

Lion-O has nothing on this guy! I think he is just a awesome figure that has this "Beauty and the Beast" vibe to him and i could see actor Ron Perlman doing the voice of him in animated form or even playing as him in a live action film.

In the pictures i have taken of this figure take a look at it's sword and tell me you are not reminded of the "Sword of Omens" i think this was a little nod to the Thundercats toyline.

Lego Minifigure Pink Astro-Girl

I had a feeling today that i should go to Toys R' Us for some odd reason like Spider-Man's "Spidey-Sense" so i hopped into the car with a few dollars in my pocket and headed on over there.

I went right to the Lego section and found a box load of series 5 blind bag figures and in that box tucked in the back was one series 6 minifigure....Jackpot!

Now for what ever reason this was all i could find in the store and i don't even know how it got tucked in with the series 5 bags but i didn't care i was going to buy it(Am kind of glad they didn't have any more because i only had money for one today).

I was hoping for the Bandit but no such luck but i did end up with another one on my wanted list....The Pink Astro-Girl so am pretty happy.

Masters Of The Universe Classics Moss Man

Moss Man is a heroic spy and master of camouflage long thought to be a urban legend but is in fact a ancient nature god.

As a kid i just remember Moss Man being a "fuzzy" good guy version of Beast Man that you were not supposed to put into the Slime Pit playset and he was always a favorite of mine for some odd reason.

Thanks to BubbaShelby from over at Toyriffic i now have my very own Moss Man and he is still to me a "fuzzy" version of Beast Man but now includes swappable heads(one of which is a Fuzzy Beast Man's head)and has the smell of a pine air freshener(which i can not remember if the original one also smelled like this or not?).

Also i should note there are two versions of the "Classics" Moss Man....Mine which has unflocked ears and another version whose ears are flocked. What the deal with this is? i don't know or care about because either way am just happy to have this figure.

Lego Minifigure Cole OX

Cole OX is a Black Ninja from the Lego Ninjago line of minifigures and reminds me of actor/martial artist Sho Kosugi from the old 80s Ninja movies and "The Master" TV series with Lee Van Cleef if you remember those.

Lego Minifigure Garmadon

Yet another Minifigure from the Lego Ninjago series which i had gotten as a gift this pass Christmas from my family.

Garmagon looks to be a dark and evil sort that could spell doom to anyone that crosses his path so it's best we stay far away from him as we can and let the Ninja's deal with this "Demon with a Sword".

Character Building Army Soldier(African-American)

This was the final Character Building micro-figure i needed to finish up my series 1 collection of these so i had to order him online(along with the black-ops figure)to complete the set.

He is nothing fancy but i tell you there is just the feeling of satisfaction being able to say i have a complete set of something so with that being said am very happy to have paid a little extra(from gift money) to get these last micro-figures i needed.

Lego Minifigure Jay ZX

With a name like Jay ZX you would think this was a Lego minifigure of some up and coming hip-hop star but you will be wrong my friends.... very wrong.

What we have here is one of the newest Ninjago "Booster Pack" figure i found at our local Target store and i just had to have him because i needed a "Blue" Ninja(I already have ones in Black,Red and White....Am going for the Power Rangers here i guess).

As with these new "Booster Packs" this one came with extra weapons(cool) and game cards(again i could care less about)but there was another draw to this figure for me.....It reminds me of either Mortal Kombat's Sub-Zero or the old WCW Pro Wrestler Glacier!(Best ring entrance ever!)

Darth Vader Candy Dispenser

My wife found this for me for $1 in the clearance section at our local Wal-Mart and i knew i had to have it! Press his chest plate and he does his repeated "deep breathing".

Darth Vader is now sitting on my computer desk next to my Skull shaped candy dispenser(with light up eyes and a insane laugh) i had found for a cheap .75 cents after Halloween last year.

COBI Small Army Mini-Figures

I think i should add to the description of this blog...."Now with 89% more Mini-Figures" because that is all i have been showing so far for the 2012 year.

Anyway let's get to the topic of this blog post which is COBI's Small Army Mini-Figures, two of which were given to me by a good friend of mine who picked these up after a recent trip to the Detroit area(Which is not to far from us) at a hobby shop of sorts that specializes in collectible miniatures(most of which are used in board games like Dungeon and Dragons,ect).

He knew i love and collect these little mini-figures and he himself got a big thrill out the Military themes(which Cobi is known for) so he had to grab me a couple of these "Blind Bags" for us to check out.

The two i ended up with was a Sea(Naval) Captain(Admiral maybe?)and a Army Commander(?)who i keep want to refer to as "G.I. Rock" but maybe "General Rock" might be better perhaps?

As far as mini-figures go these are pretty good and are comparable to ones from Oxford(the folks behind the Kre-O stuff)but i did notice a few but not major plastic faults on them but i have seen far worse than what i found on these before.

I hoping these will turn up locally at our Hobby Lobby store(They carry a small selection of Cobi products)and am thinking of trying to work a custom mini-figure of Captain Nemo sometime from parts of Sea Captain.

Robin v.s. BlackMask and Ninjas

This one is going out to my buddy Colin over at the Super-Duper Toybox who is the real life "Boy Wonder".

I put together yet another "not so perfect" Lego custom figures this time of DC Comic's Robin and Black Mask using parts from Lego blind bag Place Guard and Gangster along with bits from a Toy Story Army Man,Ninjago mini-figures and a Oxford Police Officer.

With Robin i wanted a mix of the hooded Arkham City version and the more traditional "green pants" version and i think combination works well and by adding some Character Building Ninjas it makes for great action scene with Black Mask in the back calling the action.

I included a close up of Black Mask so if anyone wants a better look at him they can because he is a bit fuzzy in the main picture i took.

Character Building Cosmonaut Micro-Figure

This is the "rare" orange suited Astronaut from the Character Building line of micro-figures but because of his different coloring from the normal white suited/gold visor ones i like to refer to him as a Russian Cosmonaut instead.

I got him this past Christmas along with 13 other blind bag Character Building micro-figures and out of all of these this was the only one i didn't already have(I have gone on to having a complete first series set of these now).

Darkman

"I Am Everyone And No One. Everywhere. Nowhere. Call Me.....Darkman".

This was the closing line to the 1990 superhero action film directed by Sam Raimi that starred Liam Neeson as the title character and well worth checking out if you have never seen it before.

It is one of my personal favorites and i have always loved the character of Darkman and i had gotten the ideal a while ago to try and create him in Mini-Figure form well today while i was doing some photo tests i did just that.

Far from perfect but i think pretty decent for being put together from the Lego Mummy and a Character Builder Black-Ops Trooper(With a cloak from a Ninjago figure and a hat from a Lego Gangster).

Lego Minifigure LLoyd Garmadon

Found this minifigure along with a few other newly released Lego Ninjago ones at our local Target the other day but these are also currently for sale at Toys R' Us as well(Target is about a dollar cheaper than TRU on price).

LLoyd Garmadon is a little hooded and cloaked wizard type with a small mix of weapons and Ninjago game cards(not shown)and is being sold as a "Booster Pack" in a green colored plastic bag(oddly the new carded minifigures still retain the red colored backing vs the new green color featured on the box sets and booster packs of this new wave).

While am not too excited about this minifigure his weapon mix and size makes him interesting and can see me trying to make some sort of custom out of him at some point in the future.

K'nex Yoshi Building Set

JCee from over at Toys N More was curious on my recently purchased K'nex Yoshi Building Set so i decided to open it and post a few pictures of it so he could see it out of it's package and built.

It is a fun and simple "Building Action Figure" that comes in three pieces which easily come together to make Super Mario's dino companion which is wee-bit taller than your normal Mini/Micro figures.

Small Haul For Friday January 5, 2012

Just a few items i got today that i wanted to share with everyone.....

1) The new Lego Ninjago "Booster Packs" which i picked up at Target for $5 a piece. They include a figure in each pack and a mix of weapons, add-on parts to the larger sets and game cards(the cards i could care less about).

2) K'nex Yoshi Building Set which was also from Target and was $3. I had told Counterfett over at "All Things Fett" i was going to have to pick-up at lest one of these after seeing them over on his blog. I really wanted Bowser but there was no sign of him which kind of made me mad because he was clearly shown on the box these were being sold/displayed in and it was a freshly opened box too. Makes me wonder if he is being sold at all yet or he is simply "short-packed".

3)MattyCollector.Com Masters of the Universe "Mystery" Action Figure. Ok it's not a mystery i know what figure is in the box but am waiting to show who it is. This was a late Christmas gift from my family and was actually ordered from Amazon.Com and this helps me met a goal i set for myself for 2012 to pick-up at lest one Matty Masters figure for the year.

Convertors Spies Tilt

As i said in my 2012 "Mission Statement" i was no longer going to be collecting Transformers toys and this is very true i however am planning on picking up when i can "other" transforming toys(and am not talking about Go-Bots either).

Toylines such as Remco's Zybots and Select's Convertors transforming toys from the 80s are two such brands that am highly interested in adding to my collection so imagine my delight and surprise when my friend of almost 20 years, Fred hooked me up with something so cool that he had from his childhood.

Convertors Spies Tilt, is a transforming robot who changes into not a car,airplane,bug or anything else like that but a pinball machine! How is cool is that? Fred knows i love pinball and toys so this was a perfect match for me.

He is a little worn(loved i would rather say)but overall i feel is in great shape and the best part about Tilt is that he is a actual working pinball machine and you can play a little game of the "sliver ball" on him(In pinball mode his marquee shows the name Space Wars).

I show a Lego(Pinball)Wizard next to it as a size comparison for those that are curious and as i nod to the rockband The Who.

Character Building Special-Ops Micro-Figure

You guys know i just absolutely love the Character Building Micro-Figures and i have been really trying to get a complete set of series 1 and because of there nature as "Blind Bag" figures this can make it a challenge.

But as of yesterday afternoon am happy to say i have all 12 Micro-Figures from this first wave thanks to my aunt who for Christmas 2011 not only stuffed me a stocking full of them(out of the 14 bags in the stocking i found only one i needed) she ordered me the last 2 of them from a online store(BBToyStore.com who by the way were awesome and shipped fast!).

So today on the Ark i present one of those ordered figures.....The Special-Ops Micro-Figure.

Lego Minifigure Sensei Wu

Minifigure Sensei Wu is part of Lego's Ninjago:Masters of Spinjitzu toyline and was part of my stash of Christmas gifts from my family for 2011.

The Spinjitzu part is a card/battling tops type of game which i have no interest in but the Minifigure itself is just great! I keep thinking of those old Kung-Fu movies i used to watch as a kid every time i look at him.

The Cosmic Ark In 2012

Well 2011 is almost behind us now and as the Cosmic Ark is finishing up it's refueling and minor repair work so we can blast off into the new year i want to say thank you to each and everyone that has taken the time to read and comment on my blog posts here on the Ark.

Also i want to point out that i have gone and deleted the bulk of my blog posts and this was done because many of the things shown in those posts i simply no longer have in my collection and because i was really displeased with the overall quality of the photos in them.

So i guess this is a good way to start fresh in 2012 and am really excited and looking forward to what the new year will be offering all of us and there will be many changes to what i will be personal collecting and not be collecting in the new year.

These changes are due to budget constraints and personal decisions on my part.....

The one thing i have found about toy collecting is there is great fun in the "hunt"and discovering new things you might have never given a second look or thought to and this is the very thing i love this hobby for.
